Nearly 40 years ago I walked in to the Ukrainian Gift Shoppe in St. Paul, Minnesota, and walked out with several beautiful eggs. Thus starts a collection. Only a few are highly valuable, but they are all prized and enjoyed

EMBROIDERY EGG
The top one is ribbon embroidery that I found in my mother's estate and was not willing to toss, I knew it had a reason. Took me almost 2 years to figure out how. I embroidery the 2nd side in Brazilian Embroidery, a skill she directed me to and I have enjoyed for years. The "pin-point" edges were suggested by a friend, Krystal, I have the ornament she gave me to show me the how. It all came together and just got finished. Well worth the time and effort.

"GHOST" EGG
The one on the right is an Ameraucana egg, slightly blue/green and normal sized. The one on the left is called a "Ghost Egg" or sometimes called "Chicken Fart" When a hen starts laying for the first time, or after she's been thru a moult and "recovering" it seems like they need to "remember" how to lay, kinda clearing the pipes and these mini eggs are the results. My grandson K. saved this one for me, he knew grandma had to have a least one "Ghost" in the cabinet. Now I do.
Thanks guy

TOLE EGG
I keep saying I'm not an artist, I keep disproving myself. Maybe I'm just never satisfied with the results. The term "Primitive Art" keeps coming to mind. I could be just a might proud of this egg though. I'd never find an egg with Columbines and having been in this state over 30 years now, I call it, home.

THE 3 THAT STARTED IT ALL
Bought in 1973 in St. Paul Minnesota. I have then at odd angles to show off their markings. Look up the art someday. It's quite a delicate, dedicated art. Takes almost a whole day to make one. I usually make 3 or 4 or 5 at a time, when I make them. I love the story that goes with them and why they are made. I try to make an egg or two my self every year, gotta do my part to keep the "demon" chained where he belongs. The collection will go on, and now I'm not done posting. Just going to take a break, It's springtime and the garden calls.

2 TURKEY EGGS
The Turkey egg at the start of this had been with me several years, but it never felt like it dried right. A non fertile egg is actually porous and over time will dry out over time until the yoke is a hard ball inside and will detach itself from the shell and they rattle, like a child's toy. If it was fertile, it doesn't dry right and that one literally "popped" as I was moving it back to the case. I was not happy, especially since it was mid-winter and the chance of finding a local turkey egg was pretty helpless. Time passes and one afternoon I found a gentleman in La Salle , Co selling non fertile turkey egg. Yee-Haw! A lovely Sunday afternoon driver, we met some lovely birds of several kinds, and joy of joys actually got to pet a very large Bourbon Red Tom, named Tim. The smaller of the two came from his mate, it was still warm and the larger one had been laid earlier in the day. We came home with 4 new eggs and a friend in La Salle, Co. Thank you Mike, was a pleasure to meet you and hope to again, soon.

THE REAL REASON FOR EASTER, EGG
I've always wondered about people that worship the cross, when I'd much rather remember the open tomb. Christ is alive, well and busy and to me that empty tomb reminds me that I too shall live, be well, and busy in the life to come. That why we celebrate with joy the season of Easter. All my eggs remind me of beginnings without end, Of eternity and hope. Finding a holder with Easter Lillies was just a plus and I prominently display this egg in the cabinet, for it IS why.

PAPER MACHE GIFT BOX
One of the oldest eggs in my collection, I found in at a gift shop in Sacramento, and it took a while to realize it was made of paper. Long time before fimo or other clays. You can actually see the small strips of paper it was made of inside under the many layers of enamel paint. It quite pretty art work, but I wanted to show the form that makes it stand. I think it's quite unique

I never expected to have Mourning Dove egg in the collection. I have a Dove that lays eggs every year in my big blue spruce tree, and have hoped that, maybe, as she was cleaning out her nest I would find a broken one, mostly complete, but would never have taken one from her nest. I didn't have to. As hubby was crawling in the attic of the Central Denver Presbyterian Church, he and the building engineer found this in a rafter. Not knowing what to do with it, the engineer almost threw it away, but hubby brought it home, thinking it was probably pigeon. Nope. It's definitely Mourning Dove. It's dirty, I've washed it a few times, and I may try one more time, but I'm totally tickled to have this one in the collection.

FABERGE STYLED PYSANKY
There is a necklace, much smaller than this, that I took the idea from. It's all gold, but the different layers makes the detail work. On mine, I had to play with color density to get the same effect. It was fun to figure out how to do the design. For someone's who not an artist, I do OK

STARRY, STARRY NIGHT
I do sing the song in my head as I move this egg around and maybe I should have posted a video of this one turning, 'cause its all there. Vincent Van Gogh's work, especially this piece, has always intrigued me, and it didn't help when Doctor Who did an episode with his character, and yes I get teary-eyed when I watch it.

SPRING TIME L.D.S.EGG
It took me several tries to get this egg right. I've got so many L.D.S. symbols on it and I wanted it right, and I got it. The Book of Mormon, and the golden stairs, the ocean waves on both sides of the brick walls of the fountain, the temple with CTR, the 3 degrees and the tree of life, all on one egg with Moroni at the top of the temple

SPRINGTIME TRADITIONAL
As I said, I've done traditional Psyanky, but frequently not in traditional colors. Some times the amount of black on traditional eggs makes me wonder why anyone would want black on an egg that was for a Springtime celebration. I love the longer days of spring. More sunlight makes me a happier person.

SPRINGTIME
Took a Psyanky class about 20 years ago and continually play with it. Yes, I make some traditional one, but I find the art very useful for other designs. This just happens to be on of my favorites. I love butterflies and was able to make duplicates on each side of the egg, wings just barely touching.
It makes it home on my Springtime display.

STUFFED EGG
Somedays I think I could make 100 of these. Their so easy, and use up all those little scraps and bits of fabric and lace, and besides they're great for tossing at each other. I remember a day when I toss one, didn't mean to do this it, but it hit the vac tech right in the back of the head, like he had a target there. He turned and accused the other vac tech of tossing it, and I was laughing so hard I couldn't apologize and take the blame. Did eventually, but it too a good long minute.

HALLOWEEN WISHES
The old (I think) Irish blessing, get turned around to a wish for good time on All Hallows Eve. I made this saying on a hoodie several years ago, and recently had to remade it. It's a fun statement of Halloween
'WITH Ghosties and Goulies and Long Legged Beasties, and things that go bump in the night.....LET'S PARTY."

PUMPKIN EGG
Eggs are not just for Easter anymore. Probably 10 years ago I saw an egg and suddenly saw a pumpkin. One lead to another, and that lead to a tree. Well, you can't just have pumpkins on a tree, so in those wee hours of the night, other Halloween ideas came forth, until I have a complete Halloween tree. Here's #1

CARVED EMU
Took most of the summer of 2010 to make this one. Had to find the Aboriginal type drawings, then had to work at at keeping my layers this side of going thru. Egg dust is a danger so it needs to be done, best outside. Wish I could show all four sides. I tried to capture Australia in all of the drawing, and think I did a pretty good job, while showing the varying colors of the layers.

RESURRECTION STORY EGGS
These were quite popular several years ago. Buy a dozen plastic egg. Fill them with a piece of paper that has the scriptures that tell the Easter story, one per egg. Put the bits and pieces of the Easter story (small nails, a small wooden cross made from toothpicks, 4 dimes for the pieces of silver, you get the idea) and sit your children down and have them open the eggs and tell the Easter Story. The last egg is empty, just like the tomb. That wasn't good enough for my mother. She was quite a good artist, so her eggs go painted with the story too. Tear drops, a crown of thorns, flowers, each egg got painted to match the story. Wonderful job, wonderful way to teach. Wonderful member of my collection.

CROCHET EGG 2
This one I did, mostly to see if I could. I had found some shiny metallic painted eggs and started playing with them. This is the only one I felt good enough to put in the cabinet. The rest? Not sure where they got off too. Probably in the bottom of some box and the grandkids play with them.
